Used PC Hardware Pricing Is Wild

Just something I have noticed over the last couple of weeks but used PC hardware in the UK is wildly over priced.

I have been scouting eBay for a used 5950x with the intention of staying a generation behind to try do my part for the environment and save a few pennies in the wallet.

Something weird that I noticed though is that people are bidding higher than they can do a buy it now price on someone with high reputable feedback, in some cases I have seen bids go higher than what you can buy one for brand new from a retailer with warranty.

This doesn't seem to be specific to CPU's either, I have seen the same with RAM and it's happening multiple times. Trying to understand the psycology behind it or am I just missing something ?

CPU: Ryzen 5900x | GPU: RTX 3090 FE | MB: MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon | RAM: 32gb Ballistix | PSU: Corsair RM750 | Cooler: Sythe Fuma 2 | Case: Phanteks P600s | Storage: 2TB WD Black SN 750 & 1TB Sabrent Rocket | OS: Windows 11 Pro & Linux Mint
