New Motherboard Smells like nail polish

Hi, so I recently got the asus b550-f motherboard and as soon as I opened the package it smelt like some sort of nail polish or Hypoxi or something with a really strong chemical smell. I have put together many pc and never smelt this before and I haven't even turned the pc on yet. Should I be worried as in will the motherboard be ok or is this some sign of failure?

Let it air out a little and then try it. Most probably thats only remains of the cleaning agent they used in production.

Yeah because now looking at it I see some like glue, a dark line of glue or something on the motherboard itself but it is not sticky or anything thing it is just some residue hopefully when I turn it on it doesn't heat up and start melting. Does this mean it was used before?

Could most likely be manufacturing issue, like their glue nozzle isn't perfect and some extra ran out and QA didn't notice.

 

Did you buy it somewhere there is potential for it to have been used before?

No, I got it from amazon it supposed to be new. Should I be worried?

Post a pic.  Amazon sells from themselves and 3rd party assholes, never know.  Confirm WHO exaclty sold it.

Yeah, let's see the epoxy or whatever it is.  See if it's on anything worrisome.

It’s hard to tell but you can see by the cooler there is some and up by the cpu fan header. It is like coming from the vrm.

Are you sure it's dried and hard?  Looks wet to me, like an oil.  I'd get others in here to add comments..

No its dried and hard I touched it and it and nothing comes off on my finger.

Then i'd probably use it, as long as it's not liquid, you should be fine.  Epoxy doesn't conduct electricity.

What should I check for on boot. like temps or more motherboard specific things on hwinfo?

Yeah, run HWINFO and see if anything it out of the ordinary.

If it's dry, you shouldn't expect to see much issue. Though, if you did decide to clean it, using 99% isopropyl alcohol is the best move.
