Help! Trying to save a sentimental recording from 1990s Teddy Bear

cjbarnes22

Hello everyone!

A family friend has a teddy bear from likely the mid 1990s that had a voice box with her deceased husbands voice. Sadly it broke recently, I'm hoping we can fix it enough to get the recording for a new device.

I'm struggling but hoping someone might have an idea. fresh batteries, the white wires were not connected to anything, actuating the sound is by pressing on the black box. See photos.

Right now from what I hear, the box makes a cracking electronic sound when activated.

I don't have access to it right now just photos, but can get access if it would help solve this.

If anyone could give suggestions or help it would be much appreciated, thank you all.

I'd suspect you would need to get someone to open it up and read the memory directly.  The slightly concerning part is if its flash memory it could very well have failed after so long.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

I'm thinking the same, I'll have to look at it though to know what the storage is, unless someone somehow knows and recognizes this. I'll be seeing soon if I can get my hands on it for a closer look
