NextCloud not working after moving to a new apartment

Luka95

Hii to all, i recently moved to a new apartment and since than my nextcloud server that i hosted on my home pc isn't working anymore! I checked my domain name and ip address is updated correctly, but when i check "Port Check - Check if service on this port is accessible from internet" result is FAIL!

I entered new router settings and made forwarding rules for port 80 and 443 but still nothing has changed.. Im doing this on linux pop os (ubuntu 22.04) Server is working normally on lan but cant access it trough domain name..

Any help would be welcomed, tnx in advance!

Are you with the same ISP? Some ISP’s block 80 and 443 on their end specifically to disallow home users from running web servers on a non-business internet plan.

If your using the same ISP, I’d just double check all of your configs and make sure nothing is hard coded to your previous WAN IP, make sure everything is using a dynamic DNS domain pointing towards your current correct IP, and confirm that dynamic DNS IS actually pointing to your correct IP.

Am not on same isp but i used this isp before and hosted servers so im assuming they are not blocking it now.. I must call them to check that out. And i already checked dns is pointing to my correct ip so that inst it 😕

If you're still using the same domain name and you've updated the DNS record, and you also haven't changed any of your configuration and ensured the same port-forwarding settings you used before still stand - and it works across your LAN network, then it must be an issue with your ISP as @LIGISTXhas suggested.

Keep in mind even if the ISP is the same it doesn't mean you don't go through a NAT further upstream.

- What if you run a traceroute? Are there any devices upstream that might be blocking your connectivity?

Lastly, I'd suggest using a VPN for NextCloud anyway if you can since having it accessible on the public internet just seems a bit insecure.  You can use something like ZeroTier to bypass NATs, so it might help your security and give you access to your NextCloud away from home if you still can't get it to work.
