Any way to have monitor and usb hub 15 meters away from computer?

Terminating is not easy for fiber, and 1" is really thin for cable runs.

You could look into the Fiber remote-center like Linus uses, but that's a 500$+ solution.

Hi everyone!

I'm thinking about moving my pc away to another room so I don't have to deal with the heat. I have a tube that's roughly 10-12 meters that goes between the rooms, but I'm having trouble figuring out how could I have the monitor and a usb hub connected that far away. The tube is 25mm in diameter and has some tight bents so that discards any hdmi 2.1 cable as they are too wide. The simplest solution would be a 15m usb c 3.2 gen2 or gen2x2 hub (or hub + extender) but I haven't been able to find any extender such long (I live in Spain, maybe in USA there are, but I haven't found any).

Any idea to make this happen would be much appreciated!

deal with the heat? How hot is your PC? I would get that checked or add more fans instead of moving it away.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).
I'm learning video editing and trying to get some cash as a high school student.
I like F1, my favourite team is Scuderia Ferrari and favourite driver is Charles Leclerc. Favourite track is Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Playing with a 1080p 60hz monitor right now, hoping to upgrade to a 1440p 144hz one soon.

Living in AU and that pisses me off since every event is late at night or early in the morning (almost every F1 race starts around 11 PM AEST time)

Well, under load cpu can be around 65ºC and gpu about 65-70ºC, my room isn't very big and in summer temperatures can reach above 30º, and my room is always some degrees higher than ambient temperature... I have a triple rad to cool the cpu and 7 fans around the case, it's not a matter of cooling 😞 but thanks for the reply anyway!

You'd have to do fiberoptic, which will be expensive.

USB has a limitation of 5M for standard copper cables.

That's one thing I've looked for, but at least fiber optic HDMI heads are just too thick to be able to pass through the tube, and as far as I've seen there's no way to make a custom one to fit just the cable and terminate it at both ends after passing it through...

I was afraid that was gonna be the only solution, I'm probably going to wait until next summer just in case any other solution appears, or at least the linus solution gets a bit cheaper, otherwise I might be just better off air conditioning the room itself... In any case, thank you very much!!

HDMI over Ethernet exists?

You could have 1-2 ethernet cables, one for HDMI, one for USB or one for both.

2 CAT6 cables could fit through 2,5cm?

I knew about the ethernet option, but sadly hdmi supports only up to 1080p which already is not enough as I use a 4k tv as a monitor, and also the usb only supports up to 2.0 speeds, which is far from ideal... of course, if there's no other choice I would consider it, but it would be one of the last choices 😅 but thanks anyway for the suggestions 😄

4K capable extenders also exist.

Oh thanks! I didn't see those, I'll check them, they're just 60hz but maybe in the near future they come with a 120hz one, but for the time being is my first option! Thanks again!
