I have a HP 611836-001. It's in a OEM Compaq 8200 Elite Ultra. I was able to find a list of what's compatible with the holly 2 and upgraded another pc of mine. Hours now and I can't find what I'm looking for. For not a ton of money I've just ordered a i7 2600k to replace the i3. I'm looking to find a gpu to replace the amd 109-c07751-00. It's only about 2 1/2 x 3". No luck with that so far. It would have to be better than intel hd 3000 or there's no reason to bother. I also need to know how much ram it can handle. I've seen conflicting reports. So far I ordered a ddr3 8g at 1600mhz. The cpu can handle more than that but I think it might be all the board can do. Any help appr. pls and thx.

That system most likely requires S-series CPUs, so I don't think the i7-2600K will work properly. You'll want to use a Core i7-2600S instead, which uses less power and outputs less heat. You have a very limited computer, so you have to be careful about things like heat.

As for the GPU - I really don't know how much you'd be able to upgrade that system. The GPU is an MXM design, but the cooling in that case will be very limiting. You might be able to use something like a Quadro M600M, but I don't personally think it would be worth putting much money into a new GPU for it.

I thought I would be ok so long as I stayed in the 2nd gen. I changed from the 2600 to the k once I found out it had a better on board gpu. Hopefully it works. I'll have to see what the s is and compare them. I kind of think there prob wont be any sep gpu that will compete with the on board, should it work anyway. What is all the stuff below your response? Is it poss configurations? One mentions 32gb ddr3 ram. Pretty sure I'd be lucky to get 16. I think it stops at 8 but like I said I kept seeing dif things there.

No, the difference is that the 2600S uses less power and runs cooler. Your computer has a very small heatsink, so it's not designed to use K-series chips. Chances are you'll run into cooling issues if the 2600K is even supported by that board. You really should use a 2600S instead.

I got this pc for free too. Win 10 killed it. I'm going to take it back to 7 once I get new stuff for it as I like 7 much better. I know there aren't any updates for it tho

Does it have an SSD? If not, I'd recommend getting one. They're very cheap these days and if there's one installed Windows 10 would run perfectly on it. It's also more secure than Windows 7.

The stuff that starts with "Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700..."? That's not part of my post. That's just my signature here on the forum. It appears below all of my posts, including this one. It's just a list with the specs of some of my computers. It's got nothing to do with your system.

Software support will be the main issue with w7 since its been like a year or 2 since support was discontinued.

Security is ignorable, if you arent gonna be a target for hacking (like working for government or big tech) then nothing to worry about, ive dailyed quite a few old andriods when i was younger and whaddaya know 6 years straight (till i got my vivo) and no hacking garbage and thats running ancient android 4 or 5

You can debloat w10 with some debloat scripts and registry tweaking, you could also go w10 ltsc so most of the debloating is done for you and longer support iirc to 2028 but getting a liscense is gonna be hard
