Anti-Static Bag Test Bench Kind of (SFF Build) [4670k, 16gb RAM, 840 Pro 256gb, Anti-Static Bag]

Anthony10

Update time! Installed a NT06-Pro. I got this app that lets me take pics in 2592x1936 or something on my iPhone, so hopefully pics are better, I know they're a bit blurry though..

Stock cooler out

attachicon.gif$documents-05-05-2014-04-46-20_H.264_100 1.jpg

New cooler in, I bent a ton of fins, horrible cpu mounting options and hard to fit a 25mm thick fan on it, but once you install it, it is fine.

Man down :( I was plugging in the molex and it snapped :( WD Black 1TB...

All done, with cable management.. sort of.

So you got this whole build with a 450 watt 80+ gold.

Would the same psu be able to run an i5 4440/4460, h81/b85/h87/97 itx, 1ssd 1hard drive,8 gigs of ram and a r9 280x. All in the same case? Also sorry for the bad grammar, I'm tired and on iPod. :P

Should be fine. Silverstone is suppose to release a 600w SFX PSU soon too if you are uncomfortable cutting it close.

Thanks. I heard about the 600w one and I'll definently get it if it is out when I'm ready to order :) Also do you have any word of release date?

Edit - And sorry for the late reply, I think I fell asleep straight after I posted it.

Hey sorry for the necro, just a few questions:

How tight was it with the H75? Did you zip-tie the tubes in some way to avoid them bending too much? What part of the tube was bent restricting the water flow?

I ran into some problems when trying to install the H75, even with a slim 12mm fan. I would recommend just getting a noctua NH-L9i or similar.

Update.. sorta.

So I have been away from home over the summer, went back home a couple months, and I am now away from home again since 2 months ago. While I was home, my family had moved to an apartment. I made a temporary ghetto setup, here are some pics. Hopefully this project can continue over spring break.

Very tight. No I did not. I am honestly not too sure. IMO my advice is to not use any aio, as even if you are successful in doing this, it will cause more hassle than it is worth. Just get a low profile air cooler such as the noctua nh-L9i

UPDATED OP

I've had this rig for over a year now, and hardware wise it stays the same, usually, but the enclosure has changed from a Zalman Z12 Plus to a Silverstone RVZ01 and now... to a... cardboard box...

The 2 right RAM slots on my motherboard are dead I believe, as whenever I try to put RAM in them I get debug codes and my computer wont post. That unfortunately limits me to just 16gb of RAM now, how will I survive...

System:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($236.75 @ OutletPC)

Spoilers don't work :/

Fixed it, the photos on the OP are better quality though, as I had to imgur these ones to remove the "attached thumbnails" section thing.

UPDATED 5/21/15:

This system has been running for almost a year and a half now. I am not the happiest with the parts I picked after learning so much in these past couple years about PC Hardware, but they aren't a bad choice.

I might be selling the parts of this build soon, and taking on a more ambitious build. I have not decided which build I would like to do, and you can help me make my decision on this forum topic. After all this time, the computer has been in a full tower, a 14L case, a cardboard box, and finally back in it's 14L case.

Parts List:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU Cooler: StarTech FAN1156PWM 65.6 CFM CPU Cooler  ($14.75 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI Z87I AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($129.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($189.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB DirectCU II  Video Card  ($404.98 @ Amazon)
Case: Silverstone RVZ01B Mini ITX Desktop Case  ($75.60 @ SuperBiiz)
Monitor: Samsung S24B150BL 23.6" Monitor  ($179.99 @ B&H)
Mouse: Logitech G602 Wireless Optical Mouse  ($53.99 @ NCIX US)

UPDATED 7/9/15:

This build has gone through a lot of crazy changes, in the last few weeks I've changed a lot!

What's changed since the last update?

-I've acquired a pair of ATH-M50Xs. They were super cheap on sale and I just had to get myself a pair ($99.00 free shipping from adorama)

-The GTX 770 was sold ($182.50... and I just found out it was a suspicious buyer that eBay denied, time to relist!), as was the MSI Z87 GD65 ($56 has 2 dead RAM slots) that was used in the past.

-I'm now on integrated HD 4600 graphics.. oh god...

-The Hyper 212 EVO has returned, and I've stuck my unused NF-F12 on it instead of the stock fan, super quiet!

-I've changed locations in the apartment, using a run of the mill foldup table.

-I've repaired the MSI Z87I AC to have it's wireless AC again! I don't ever use it, but thought I might aswell. Was about a $15 repair, just some new pigtails and antennas

-The build has moved to an antistatic bag test bench sort of thing, much like the cardboard box version, but now theoretically safer... I think.

-I've upgraded to an S2415H which I picked up with a Best Buy open box deal for $170, I had a $25 gift card lying around that I never saw myself using as Best Buy has terrible prices, so I jumped on it, and I am glad I did!

-The S24B150BL is gone, I've lent it to my brother, might end up selling it or just plain giving it to my brother. I would probably still use it, but I've been running into too many errors and crashes when running the S2415H and the S24B150BL on a dual monitor setup with integrated graphics, I tried troubleshooting it but couldn't get it to work

-New Grifiti keyboard wrist rest (review coming soon, along with about 20 other reviews of assorted Grifiti products that they sent me to review  :D)

Cable management is pretty poor, I'd zip tie everything up but I find myself re-adjusting it too much.
