Greetings all,

I have a question,

I have uploaded an image of my ram slots, obviously marked with the ram slot colour,

I have 2x Xeon E5 2690 cpu

my issue is as you can see on the image, that only the blue slots are working.
move been told this could be the cpu not sitting properly to have all the slots working.

mom hoping someone may be able to clarify this for me and I need to do to get them working.
(I do have server ram)

thankyou

Are you trying to mix RAM types? That could be part of the problem right there. My experience with Supermicro boards, they can be very picky about memory.

Otherwise if you've filled every blue slot nothing should stop you from populating the black slots assuming you haven't exceeded the number of ranks the processors support which 2Rx4 isn't asking much of them.

no mixed ram types, i did fill all slots apart from the inside 4 as the heatsink overhangs it and nothing loaded up. Ive been told to reset the cpu, would that be anuthing worth trying?

It's not out of the question but seems unlikely that both sockets would do this to you without some other underlying fault. It won't hurt to try it if you have the thermal paste to spare though.

What CPU coolers are you using? There are good ones that don't block the slots. It's possible it doesn't like that those remaining slots aren't filled.
