Can I test components without a case?

Hello. Im selling a motherboard, cpu, and some ram to a friend very soon. I have all the components in a box but I really want to test them one last time before selling them as I dont like the idea of selling faulty stuff to people I know. I have a storage drive and power supply and the cpu has intergrated graphics so I dont need a gpu. What would be the best way to test everything is working? Can I just put it on its box? Thank you.

Yeah and if the mobo doesnt have a button you can just short the -PW+ pins on the motherboard
