I was browsing through Amazon and found Fanxiang S500 Pro 2TB NVMe SSD https://a.co/d/hLuHAf0 and I was curious if anyone has tried it and thoughts on cheap ssds in general. I'm thinking of either going with the cheap one or a Wd blue though I'm not sure what's best for my use case.

Crucial P2 would be better.

Can you explain why the crucial would be the better option over the WD? Better reliability or speed? I don't have a lot of experience with this.

The WD Blue SN570 is great for the price, but a bit expensive and more performance than most people would notice. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wd-blue-sn570-review

The P2 is not a good ssd.

OP,

Good budget option is Teamgroup MP33 or SN570.

I saw the mp 33 and I've never heard of it before. Thanks for your input. I don't need super high speeds I just need a large replacement for my laptop because 512 is not enough for me. I'll probably go with the sn570 because I've heard of WD before and I trust them

Erm, ok. Both reviews are linked but either will be fine.

No, the crucial would be better than the one you originally linked. Not the WD. WD Blue and Crucial would be about the same, in terms of quality.

For OS drives: Make sure that if it's SATA it has a DRAM cache. If it's nVME this matters less since it can share RAM with your motherboard.

For bulk storage: Make sure it meets the above OR it has SLC/pSLC cache.

Avoid absolute garbage.

As a rule of thumb check the LTT SSD tier list and avoid the parts in the absolute bottom tier. I'd also avoid the ones in the highest tiers unless the price is right. If you NEED extra performance (you probably don't), optane + caching for the boot drive.

Define quality. What is the author supposed to think of WD Blue being in the same Budget tier of the forums' SSD Tier list?

I'm going to agree with the Silicon Power (P34)A60 recommendation given its higher TBW of 600 compared to the crucial SSD with only ~450 TBW. Any differences in write or IOPS seem negligible here.
