New Office Setup - Need Advice!

Silent Static

Hi Everyone 🙂

Recently I bought my first apartment so I'm currently in the process of designing my new office layout.

So I work from home, so I currently run a 2 pc setup, one being my own personal gaming rig and the other being the work pc. Which leaves me with 2 keyboards and mice. Originally the plan was to have 2 desks of 1.5m wide and .9m deep, but they didn't really fit. (Screenshot 1 is Version 1).

Version 2 is where I currently stand. In each corner I have a set of drawers planed one (one is actually drawers and the other is a 12U cabinet where I'll have all my network equipment setup). For the 2 keyboard and mice setup I think I'll solve that with Synergy. Currently I use the Samsung 49inch as a primary monitor. Given the width of the monitor I thought having a larger desk would suit it better.

So the only thing I'm currently not a 100% on is the desk size. I'll be making it myself with natural wood so really sky's the limit. Would love to hear any suggestions

Room details

  • The wall where the desk faces is 4.9m.
  • The north wall (behind where I'd be sitting), I plan on having a library with a tv in the middle. Ideally I'd like to use it as a presenting tv so while in work calls I can shift the webcams focus to it to have a more natural presenting vibe compared to sharing you screen (still just an idea, haven't tested this out in practice). I'll also have rgb throughout the shelves (will stay on just white 90% of the time, rgb for maybe game nights)
  • Not a 100% sure where to put my PC. Could just buy a rack mounted case and stuff it in the cabinet to have a cleaner look. I'm also looking into building an SFF pc. So that could sit on my desk, and I can put my current pc in the cabinet and use it as a Plex/home server. Again, any suggested would be appreciated.
  • Server cabinet will be in the south east corner.

Upgrade plans: I would like to a G9 and stack them, putting my older one on top, and maybe a flat 34" ultrawide in vertical to the side (for coding). Also current setup photo is actually outdated, currently using the Razer Blackwidow V3 keybaord so easy switching between 2 pcs (physical switch on the side of the keyboard)

So any suggestions on how I can make this setup better is more than welcome! Now's the time given the room is still empty and I need to apply a second coat of paint and run ethernet throughout the entire place. Thanks everyone :3

Another option: I'd look at moving the rightmost shelf to the lower left corner and putting a nice L shaped desk in the lower right corner, so you can pivot in the chair to go from office to work and back easily.  Not sure if those shelves are separate or build together.  Might break up the space more, not sure of actual dfimensions.

That's definitely an other option yeah. I thought about it too. Only thing I'd be worried about is having the desk clutter the entry passage to the room. I'll check the dimensions to see if it's possible 🙂 Thank you!
