What benefits are you looking to achieve by doing this???

It'll usually work fine. Connect the main monitor to the GPU you want to use most for 3D stuff. I haven't done it in a desktop in a long time, but many laptops will have GPUs from two different manufacturers. You may encounter some instances where software will try running stuff on the wrong GPU.
