It's probably a problem of packaging.  I suppose it's possible, but I doubt you'll find any.  That's more of a 17" form factor feature, imho.

The MSI GT77 (literally featured in LTT's latest video as I write this) has four M.2 slots, and I'm sure others do as well.

With that said: you can buy 2TB, 4TB and even 8TB M.2 SSDs. If you need so much storage that even two slots won't cut it in 2022... you're probably a creative pro who needs an external Thunderbolt array. I wouldn't want to trust, say, 16TB or 32TB of data to a laptop that could be stolen at the coffee shop.

Like IPD mentioned you're probably going to have issues finding a 15" with 4 m.2 slots. Linus just did a video on that MSI today that has 4 m.2 slots but it's a 17.3" screen.

Umm, neither of those are 15.6" laptops. The Predator 21X was a $9000 laptop from nearly 6 years ago, and the Alienware you linked is from August 2016. I don't see how either of those laptops is relevant to what OP is asking for.

No they are not, but I was going with "These used to, so see if they do now" type of thing.  Got the ball rolling, but had some reports to get out.

Most likely the OP has some smallish M.2 drives laying around and wants to use them.

  • 4 months later...

I was Googling around if anyone had asked a simple question, a laptop with 4 slots for nVME storage, as I was looking to replace my Dell Alienware M17x R4 with its 1 x mSSD and 3 x SATA drives I use for 14TB mass storage, instead I stumble upon this thread with bunch of worthless replies to a perfectly logical question with a bunch of self-important people who seem to have nothing better to do in their life.

There several reasons why a laptop with 4 storage devices is needed:

  • Mobility – job reasons, natural disasters, war etc
  • RAID configurations for professional work
  • Portable media centre
  • Mass storage of games for poor internet infrastructure areas
  • Portable editing rig for RAW video workflow
  • Portable server

Are there any 15.6 inch laptops that have 4 m.2 slots for storage and are 11th or 12th gen intel?

The only laptops I could find that fits these requirement while being comparably modern, are:

HP Zbook Fury 17 G7 – 10th & 11th gen Intel options (3kg)
2 x M.2 2280 nVME slots + 2.5 Inch SATA or 2 x M.2 2280 nVME slots if using bracket

HP Zbook Fury 15 G7 – 10th gen Intel (2.5kg)
2 x M.2 2280 nVME slots + 2.5 Inch SATA or 2 x M.2 2280 nVME slots if using bracket

HP Zbook Fury 15 G8 – 11th gen Intel (2.5kg)
2 x M.2 2280 nVME slots + 2.5 Inch SATA or 2 x M.2 2280 nVME slots if using bracket

HP Zbook Fury 16 G9 – 12th gen Intel (2.5kg)
4 x M.2 2280 nVME slots

MSI Titan GT77 – 12th gen Intel (3.3kg)
2 x M.2 2280 nVME slots + 2 x M.2 2280 nVME/SATA slots (4 in total)

Clevo X170KM-G – 11th gen Intel desktop replacement (4.7kg)
4 x M.2 2280 nVME slots

Asus ROG Strix SCAR 17 G732 - 10th gen intel (2.9kg)
3 x M.2 2280 nVME slots + 1 x 2.5” SATA (combined 3 x 4TB nVME + 8TB SSD SATA possible)

Dell Precision 7730 – 8th gen Intel (cheapest option here) (3.4kg)
4 x M.2 2280 nVME slots or 1 x 2.5” SATA with 65Wh battery option loose 1 x M.2 2280 nVME slot.

There some laptops with 3 x nVME slots and also a 1 x SATA slot, these are extremely time consuming to search for since absolutely no website seem to track storage options in laptops anymore, and worse yet there even more laptops with 2 x nVME slots and 1 x SATA slot in which you can acquire a 2.5” adapter which gives you two M.2 SATA slots allowing you to run M.2 SATA drives or nVME at SATA speeds but in this case it would be better to just get 8TB SSD SATA instead of wasting it on an adapter.
