Question Regarding Motherboard Batteries

Alexb770

Hi, for the past several months my PC has had a power issue where it doesn't turn on. I eventually figured out that taking out the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then putting it back in fixed the issue, but that band aid fix isn't working anymore and I'm pretty sure I just need to go buy a new battery now. Does it matter what kind of battery I get as long as it's a CR2032 (which is what my battery currently is)? The battery also says "KTS" and "Japan STD", which I assume just means Japan standard. Are these additional specs for the battery or do they not matter?

Here's an image of the battery if that helps: s-l500.jpg

CR2032 is the battery size, like AA or D. (It's derived from the battery's physical size, 20mm in diameter and 32 tenths of a millimeter in thickness.)

Many companies make CR2032 batteries, and they're all basically the same.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
