Worlds dumbest guy trips over hdmi wire

Henry007

So guys,

please don’t tell me what a fucking moron I am when you read this.

I already want to kick myself and hard.

So I got the last part for my build yesterday, a RTX 3080
The build went very smoothly. I was even quite proud of myself, how neatly everything was hidden away and how nice everything looked.

I got a bit overhyped after building to plug everything in and to get it up and running.

When I went to get the LAN cable I stumbled over my carpet wich I had tucked away for static reasons (apparently not well enough) and got caught on the HDMI cable.

it popped out of the Monitor and also almost popped out the graphics card end.

the port on the gpu is now a bit loose on one side. (You can yaw the cable further to one side than to the other) but sits firm enough.

the pins look absolutely fine.

So basically my question is should I bother with RMAing it.

The port works when I plug it in.

Can hdmi quality still be compromised without seeing a bent or broken pin.

I have heard that if the hdmi port still works it is completely fine and if a pin stopped working properly it would just stop working all together is that true?

It is just so frustrating because I put so much effort into the machine and was so careful when building it and then fuck up big time.

The GPU has more ports, why not use the others?

I don't think this qualifies as acceptable for RMA....

Because I am kind of bound to the HDMI because I want to play on a tv wich has only hdmi 2.1 ports

Also 4K 120Hz is kind of important to me

Seems fine when it works. Think you would see it when the HDMI cable had something. Have fun gaming on that rig and consider a helmet 😄 have a nice day!

Under no circumstances ever use it.

Box it up and post it to me free of charge and it will be much safer here.

BetteBalterZen has a picture above of the type of box to use.

On my last day of special school they told us to be careful on the internet 😂😂

Are the cable GPU and monitor still working?

I think just to be safe, send it back if you can get a free replacement. It's better to wait on a new one then to get 6 months down the road and feel the burn.

Yeah they are.

Honestly just want peace of mind.

Just wanted to know if there could be any change in quality of the output

It is a bit of a hustle to setup a highspeed camera in front of the screen and check if it is indeed 4K 120hz

It works so good enough go for it and keep using it.

If you can't see it what does it matter if there was a change?

The signal via the cable will be what is sent or no signal, not a "maybe a bit less".
