the CPU is still pretty good right now, though you could grab a 9700/K and get a bit more performance, grab another 16gig kit of ram, and upgrade your GPU (and likely PSU) and be set for a good few years. Though, I'd wait on the GPU til 4000 series comes out.

Way better performer for the a bit less: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MqRYbK

12600K is about 12% faster than 5800x for about the same price.

16GB RAM instead of 32, you don't need 32 for gaming.

Cheaper better value SSD, you don't need expensive SSD for gaming.

3080 12GB.

H510 Flow instead of the standard one, the standard one is a hot box.

1000W PSU.

It's a laptop, 9750H is a mobile CPU.

You do not want that case for cooling, especially with AIO.

I see a few other things that might work okay, but this is what I would do...

I use this board and RAM with a 5900X / RTX3060ti-8GB-OC, larger capacity of same M.2 and HDD, and it screams.

About what id reccommend

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pzPQhk

The 12400f is a good choice if you just plan to game and beats similar amd cpus for cheaper

Cheap cooler since the 12400f dosent run that hot

Good board for the price

Cheaper kit of 32gb ram

Better 2tb storage

3080 12gb which will easily out perfrom the 3070ti, and a good cooler to top it off

Nicer case imo since the h510i dosent really have the most airflow and a good 850 watt psu.

I'm running a lenovo laptop right now so can't really upgrade anything other than storage and ram.

The only part I guess I'm looking for a better suggestion is the mobo. Should I go x570 or b550?

Are you dead set on 5800X? It's just not a better buy than the intel counterparts...

Even the 12400 has faster single core performance.

12600K has more cores and faster single/multi core performance, it's a no brainer at about the same price.

I didn't put a whole lot of effort into searching for the case so I'll probably change it to the h510. I'll look into the cpu a bit more and the motherboard too before I come to a verdict.

Much better, and more stable build.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MXJgqm

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($193.82 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S redux 70.75 CFM CPU Cooler  ($46.98 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($162.50 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Blue SN570 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($169.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR 10 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING LHR Video Card  ($749.99 @ Newegg)

Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($134.99 @ Amazon)
$1638.25

If, for any reason, you can't do that price... stick with the 3070Ti. It's still a great gpu for 1440p gaming, but a 3080 would be better.
