ISCSI Disk: Can this be my only disk?

Hi, Is it possible to setup a windows machine (perhaps during windows installation) to only have a ISCSI disk and no physical storage so the machines entire storage (including the OS) is stored on the NAS device?

Yea you can do this, but you need something to get the iscsi drive setup. Some ways to do this include network cards with a iscsi hba built in, and pxe based options that will boot from the network.

Id still suggest getting a boot ssd, there cheap and much faster and simpler than a nas.

Yes. It is possible. It requires PXE and iSCSI servers to run on separate hosts.

Use Tiny PXe Server with Starwind Virtual SAN to build such a server.

This guide should help with the configuration. http://labalec.fr/erwan/?p=1862
