Hi, I've just got myself a 3080ti upgrading from my 1080ti, but my 1080ti is powered by 2x 8 pin PCIE where as my 3080ti requires 3x 8pin, I have a Corsair cx750m PSU but couldn't find any extra cables it came with so ordered myself a 8 pin type 3 PCIE cable of the corsair website, anyway I know you can do a lot of damage plugging things into the wrong places and Im unsure as to where I can plug my extra PCIE into, my psu looks like the image attached, the top 3 and bottom left slots are all taken, does 6+2 PCIE & 4+4 CPU mean I can plug either into the top and bottom right slots? I think im good to use the bottom right slot to power my gpu right? thanks

Yes! It's a combo slot for both pcie and cpu. Type 3 is the right cable so should fit right in there.

I'm concerned that your power supply only has 2 of those 8 pin plugs on it.   How are you planning on having 3x8pin for the gpu and 1x 8 pin for the cpu?

(EDIT: nvm I forgot about semi-modular having some hard wired pcie / cpu cables)

To be fair a cx750m is not going to drive a 3080ti or if it does somehow not shut down soon after a game it wont work for long

Try it first.

Make sure you have all 3x PCI-E 8-pin connections hooked up.

The third one is usually NOT optional. It is usually routed so each PCI-E 8-pin... in your case... supplies power to 1/3 of the VRMs or power plane.

Leaving 1 of the 3 connectors unplugged, means having 1/3 of the board shut off.

But yes, be prepared for a new PSU as well. The RTX 3080 Ti doesn't "just draw 350W."

It'll probably be fine.  IMO the "power spikes" thing is being overblown by Gamers Nexus cause dude has a hardon for wanting to be "investigative".  That whole 30 minute video in the above reply doesn't even find a power supply with a problem.

And not mentioning that drivers largely fixed the issue.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.
