Are table VESA mounts reliable?

Hey guys, I wanted to buy something like this for my monitor but im kinda afraid from this kind of table mounted stuff, what are actually the odds of it eventually crashing over long usage?

Been using them at work for years now, depending on the brand and quality.. they'll last many years.  They're fairly stout and made of metal, not like you "use" them a lot.  Monitor hangs there, moved once in a while, but that's about it.

Just dont use em on ikea cardboard desks

Practically zero, assuming you mount it right in the first place.

It won't be any issue but just make sure you are using at solid wood not those 3M cardboard.

Mdf is fine too. Whats not fine is a desk that uses a hexagonal cardboard pattern as filling as that will just snap

I still worried use on MDF as I think for big size monitor weight may not able to handle by MDF for long term.

Mdf is a lot stronger than you think. Its been hold my cintiq 27qhd which weighs 9,5kg for 6years now

When in doubt, put a piece of wood under both sides of the clamping surface (especially the bottom side)--that will help distribute the load better along the clamping surface.  So long as the weight of the supported item doesn't exceed the stand rating--it will be perfectly fine.

 

p.s.

I wish we could get monitors without the stock table-top stands.  It would reduce waste if companies offered monitors with a choice of mount styles--rather than just the default "table-top-only" stands.  Even more helpful if they used the same stand for the entire lineup--regardless of size.

 

And WTF aren't desks offered with built-in corner stands for monitors?  That way you don't even have to clamp anything--it's just a pole that fits into the back corner of the desk and is already designed to support the weight.
