h

Depending on where you live, the voltage should be set to the same as what you get into your house.

For me, I live in the UK, so my home voltage is 230v.

Is the SATA mode in AHCI or IDE in the BIOS?

i got a post to

A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart Error and i know the Disc is good and working

Because your system is old, it may not be compatible with that drive.

I had a few problems before trying to use SATA 2 drives with a SATA 1 motherboard, before the drives had a little jumper you could change to make it work as SATA 1.

But seeing how you were playing with the PSU voltage selector (something you should NEVER do) I don't think you should attempt to move the drive jumpers, because you are most likely going to screw something up.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

Honestly, you guys, you never seen a china case and a cheap mobo before? Of course it is a new build.

As for your problem, your shop should have a return policy for a 1 to 1 exchange of faulty good sold, take your HDD back and exchange it for a new one AFTER you have tested it on another pc. I am surprised that the PSU is still working and your motherboard but I guess the power regulation might have saved it. Anyway, if the PSU is also from the same shop you can be daring and return it there too for a replacement, remember to set the voltage back 115v and tell them when you power up the pc the psu sparked and now you are having probs. Otherwise go buy another cheap psu and test the system that way.

The pc turns on now but i still get the Disc Read Error i'm going to test with an other Drive and see if that helps ^_^
