Good day people

I am wondering, since I want to upgrade my graphics card (GTX 570), if it's possible to just upgrade the graphics card or if I actually need to upgrade the system.

I'm looking for something like the GTX770 single, for ONE 1080p screen. I would like to play Battlefield 4, COD Ghosts or other games with good graphics at high or ultra settings with good fps performance.

Will the rest of the setup be too slow for the graphics card and create a bottleneck?

Asus P5K SE/EPU Motherboard

Standard cooling

120GB SSD + 1TB HD

Thanks in advance

It might bog down a little bit, but the 570 is still an okay card, so I would personally save up for a new rig. But that's just me.

Yeah same here. I would get a new rig. You will probably not be able to use the GPU to its full potential.

When I got my 5770 I used to have a core2duo E6400 and Bad Company 2 would only run on mid settings, but after switching to my i5 2500k it went up to highest settings.

So yeah, I would get a new system.

I have that same CPU for 7 years since it was released and it served me well, but now i decided to upgrade and build a new gaming pc. I believe that a GTX 770 will be bottlenecked by that CPU, but i think it will still deliver good performance.

If i were you i'd save up for a new system.

In the end it's all up to you.

Your system is pretty close to mine. I was planning on building a new system so when I saw a great deal on an R9 290, I got it. It'll be a bit faster but, if you don't upgrade the rest of your system, it'll be pointless.

My rig:

Core 2 Quad Q8400 (3.2 Ghz)

Intel DX48BT2 Motherboard

Corsair F120 SSD

R9 290 reference

Here's an Afterburner screen shot showing usage which ideally would be at 100%

Thanks. Kinda what I wanted to hear. Needed to be clear.

But do you also think the my CPU might be too slow for even the 570?

For the nvidia 500 series is enough, i believe. I have a 550Ti and according to a lot of reviews and tests of my own, it's performing on it's full potential.

My 3rd system has the following specs..

C2Q X9650 at 3.7ghz

Asus Maximus II Formula

8GB KHX DDR2 1066mhz

Sapphire HD7970 at 1100mhz core

SilverStone OP1000 PSU

Runs all the games I have thrown at it with ease, despite the naysayers here, I think the Q9550 that OP has is good enough for modern gaming. As long as the CPU is good enough to keep framerate playable, that is all that really matters.
