hey guys,

is there any money transfer service other than paypal that offers buyer protection when buying online?

and also from your experience how successful is a bank credit charge back ? is there a specific period of time to report the incident if scammed online ? and what makes me eligible for a charge back?

paypal seems to be disliked by many when it comes to buying online from social media groups

Paypal is its own thing I guess. For a buyer to be protected they have to use goods and services, which leads to not insignificant fees to seller. Plus there's many horror stories of false claims by buyers leading to sellers losing out. There are escrow services but I'm not aware of smaller consumer facing ones.

Wont help much I guess but I try to sell buyer collects, so they can pay at the time in cash or bank transfer.

I work in a bank in Australia, but this should apply to any country that uses Visa and Mastercard.

How successful is a bank credit charge back: As long as it was done as a card purchase,  almost 100% if you did not receive the item,  exceptions being ridiculously large amounts, or going into it knowing it was a scam.

is there a specific period of time to report the incident if scammed online: 120 days from the date of purchase.

what makes me eligible for a charge back: basically anything where the agreement between buyer and seller has not been met.

Do note that this all is based on it being a card initiated transaction.

EFTs/wire transfers will have limited protection, as funds can only be recalled if they still exist in the account they were received into. Which in the case of scams, as soon as they receive the money they will take it out making the recall fail.

ok so wat method should i use to pay someone directly from my credit card to make the charge back process highly successful? is there a specific app or something ?

keep in mind i want to pay someone who is a private seller not a website or ebay so there is no platform

If someone is not willing to use paypal goods and services it's most likely a scam either way. If the seller doesn't offer you any kind of security, then don't buy. With a normal bank transfer or paypal friends you don't have any buyer protection.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Trust me from first hand experience. The burden of proof is on the business when it comes to chargeback disputes. Merchants are scammed heavily in this manner and most will just shrug off a small charge because its not worth the hassle to fight it.

I've had one guy years ago on PayPal ghost me with a purchase and PayPal got my money back. Took awhile though.

I recently had fraudulent charges put on my debit card and have no idea what the source is because I'm careful what I expose my card to. My bank informed me its becoming an increasing problem. My suspicion is EMV algorithms are being hacked and accounts spoofed without the negligence of the card holder. Amusing seeing the random charges ranging from 97 cents to 89 dollars as this pattern is meant to avoid wary consumers watching their checking accounts.

Even though it was debit and the debits were coming from Kuwait of all places my bank refunded all of them without question.

Eithers paypal for global use, else you only got country specific options.

I think it was Zelle or a similar name that worked with google and credit card giants (which some other apps are "verified" too by the banks/creditcard).

venmo and cashapp I guess is something, but you have to be careful with these kinds of apps.

Some banks have their own apps too, but is a bit more location based.

might be a little nice overview

if it's a private seller, then you can't.

Any apps or intermediaries will not be eligible for chargeback since you are not buying from them. You are using their service which is the product, so you can't claim that you didn't receive the product and do a charge back because that is separate from the transaction to the seller. They provided their service, what happens after that is between you and the seller. Any such apps or services like these will have a very low chance of getting your money back as they generally don't want to get involved in disputes.

so you mean if i payed using paypal F&F that is hooked to my bank visa card i'm still ineligible? if yes then how could i pay directly from my visa so i would be eligible for a chargeback ?
