Hey guys,

Ok, basically what happened was I had an old fraps video that was no longer needed after using it in movie maker (it was about 15GB) so I dragged it to recycle bin. After that there was no file in the recycle bin, or the folder where I had dragged it from so I looked at my C drive to see if the space had been cleared. It had not. I made a empty folder and moved it to the recycle bin and emptied it but still the space has not been cleared. What should I do? I know that 15GB might not seem like a lot for some people but I received a 250GB HDD as a gift so every byte counts!

Thanks in advance for any help

-Billy

CCleaner should clean it up. Or Windows' Disc cleanup tool.

Sometimes if the file name is too long Windows won't be able to delete it. Was the file name too long?

I know that files that are too large (I believe 15 GB is large enough) will not be sent to the recycle bin when you delete them. And are you positive the space did not change? You may have moved it into a folder around the recycle bin if there are any.

Deleting as well. I once tried to backup my entire steam library. Default name was all the game's name combined and because of that the name was too long. I could send it to the recycle bin but I couldn't delete that backup folder. It didn't let me change the name either. I had to open up the command prompt and change the name that way before I could delete it.

Ok, Thanks I will try this soon!

Search for the file, make sure you enable viewing of hidden files incase something odd has happened.

I've tried looking through all my .avi files as I can't remember the name (it was a collection of numbers and letters) to no avail, but thatnks anyway!

Nope, it was about 20 characters, thanks though!

This is interesting... I've checked around all the files and still can't find it. But like I said I will try CCleaner later!

Thanks for the input guys, I am sure that this issue will be resolved soon with all of the help you have been giving me!

Thanks again
