Can I move my M.2 NVME SSD to a new mobo?

MGWT1981

I hope this does not across as a stupid question, but I have an 8 TB NVME M.2 SSD plugged into my current Mobo. It is only used as storage. Mainly games I play on steam and some movies. I do not use my OS on it.

I have bought a new mobo and plan on putting that SSD into it. Will the new mobo recognize it? Will everything function correctly? Or do I need to do something to it first? This is my first SSD so I am not as familiar with them. I have transferred HDDs from one mobo to the other with no issue so I see no issue doing the same with an SSD. But wanted to make sure.

I appreciate all comments.

Thank you and God Bless

Everything should be accessible.
Don't throw out your old computer before checking.

If both are the same version of windows, you should be good.

It's possible to lock data though with Windows file security features and idk how they work, but I believe they exist.

If they're not locked, it will work 100%.

Thank you. I don't think I locked anything. I did not even know you could do that. So if it did,  it would have done it without me knowing about it. From what you stated though, I think I'll be fine.

Thanks again.
