Depending on how long you've had it, or the amount of dust in your home, I would recommend checking the inside of the Surface. Many Laptops have a tendency to overheat in those conditions. If that doesn't work, it might be worthwhile to RMA it, assuming the warranty is still viable, as they might have a solution that isn't entirely obvious or publicly viable.
