Noticeable Performance Increase in Overclocking

In gaming Overclocking your GPU will give you a ton more performance and OCing your CPU wont help much in that aspect but for larger computation like renders and such it makes the system faster and more snappy.

There's that feeling that you got more for your money and having the ability to do it is fun. Tinker'ers know what I'm talking about because we need to mess with everything to make it better.

Overclocking is not noticeable if you are not doing CPU intensive tasks, and all applications respond differently to overclocking. Overclocking is done for numerous reasons.

There is a performance increase, but will only be noticed in CPU intensive applications. And the amount of a performance increase all depends on how much you overclock it.

Yes, depends on the overclock. You will not get an exact answer until you try for yourself.

At the moment, (slightly different clocks to signature) I've an extra 39% on top of my CPU.

Awesome difference in certain use cases. Minimum fps will rise and rendering/encoding time decreases a fair amount.

Once cooling is finetuned,your sweeter for longer. Look up reviews of overclocked 2600k's results vs overclocked 4770k's. Performance ia similar but the cooling requirements are heavier on Haswell.
I think it'll be a while before most get better CPU's.

seconded...also depends upon how good is the chip in case of cpu...how good is the silicon content in the cpu chip....

Same argument could be had for upgrading at all.
My 920 i7 still does a very good job and it's getting near 5 years old!
