Dell Dimension 2400 Rebuild

Ryan Leech

So my friend's brother needed a pc to play fallout and source games, and my friend was tired of him using his pc. So earlier this morning (around 3am at a LAN party)) we discussed the prospect of building a pc for his little brother. Between me, my friend, and @Pentium4Life, we managed to round up some old parts and throw a system together. The Dimension 2400 originally had a Pentium 4, 512MB DDR, and a 40GB IDE HDD.

The specs:

Dell Dimension 2400 case(from 2003)

Core 2 Duo E8400

Intel Q45 mATX Board

4x1GB DDR2 667MHz

EVGA GT 220

Seagate 160GB 7200rpm laptop HDD

Seasonic 430w 80+ Bronze (from 2005)

Coolermaster OEM Cooler

LGA1155 Stock Cooler Fan (#ghetto)

Hannspree 1680x1050 TN Monitor

Windows 7 Pro 64bit

The Intel fan idea was really good.

Yeah we needed a fan so I just tore the fan off of the heatsink, and pushed the pins through the rear of the case. I was delighted to see that it actually worked

#FuckIt

That is a really good idea though. Kinda like me taking my Sempron fan and putting it on my Pentium 4 heatsink. just for the nice and quiet operation. :)

Could at least use tape for the laptop drive.. (I have a laptop drive taped on top of the main drive in my low pro HP. Fits perfectly between the drive and the top of the PSU.)

The HDD is actually screwed onto the floor of the case with one screw (which you can't see in the pictures). This PC is never really moved around so it's a non-issue.
