Hello,

My modem is connected to coax that is upstairs in my home. My router is also upstairs with the modem and that connection is the only one available for the modem. I was wondering if my connection speeds and strengths would be improved in my downstairs game room if I connected a 2nd spare router to the wifi and placed it downstairs and then hardwired my devices to the second router. Thanks!

Not really. That second router would still have to connect to the weak WiFi connection downstairs.

The 'right' thing to do is run a network cable downstairs and add a network switch.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

If you want to use a second router as an AP your best performing option is to run a cable to it from the first router then configure the router to act as an AP.

Using a router or other similar device as a Wi-Fi repeater would result in similar or worse performance depending on repeater placement.
