What have i done wrong?

Hi,

Im currently running into what i think is a problem with my cooling, Ive got a 5900x running with a Corsair h100i capellix in a Corsair 4000d af case.

at idle with nothing running but iCue and Chrome my package temps are bouncing between 45 to 60 celsius.

Pretty well as soon as i start up a game with discord twitch and maybe a couple of tabs of chrome running, the package temp jump up to 70 then to 80 not long after plus occasionally getting to 90 degrees.

My case is set up with 6 fans total the 3 front as intake and the top and rear as exhaust my aio in top mounted as well.

 

Have i done something wrong or does that seem more normal?

Not that out of the ordinary. A custom fan curve might help. I saw similar with a 5900X in a 4000X with less intake area. 38-42C idle, 57-65C moderate load, 70-72C peak usage, Cinbench R23 saw 76C with PBO off, 87C with it on. RTX3060ti OC. Air cooled with six 120s and a Scythe Mugen 5. I did see some fluctuations of 10-12 degrees at idle after hard load, and usually stayed above 40 afterward.

Also, I have three intake on the front, two exhaust top side, one exhaust to the rear. If yours are oriented differently, that might be why. Also, NEVER draw air IN through a radiator, that's just sucking hot air into the case.

Its the RGB software. If I use Aura it will add at least 5c to my CPU temp because it is always being used. I switched to OpenRGB.
