Lian Li O11-D Mini, cooling tips

bramturismo

Hey guys,

Anyone here using the O11-D Mini case from Lian Li?

Is cooling as big an issue as people make it out to be?

Idea was to install the Lian Li Galahad CPU AIO cooler, and install the Lian Li unifans 3X120 up top for exhaust.

Do I need additional fans in the case, or can I get away with this setup?

Case: Lian Li O11-dynamic mini | CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | GPU: AMD Radeon RX6800 | Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550 E-Gaming | Memory: 32Gb 3600Mhz G. SKILL Trident Z | PSU: Corsair SF750 Platinum | Cooling: Lian Li Galahad AIO 240 | Case fans: Lian Li Unifans

Ha, yes, many people have that incredibly popular case.

I've used it for quite a while and find cooling to be quite good, though when I build a PC, I fill every fan slot and there is room for 9 in this case. 3x120 as intake on the bottom, 2x140 as intake in the side and 3x120 as exhaust out the top. I had a 360 AIO in the top cooling an overclocked 5800x and a 400W 3090 Founders chucking out hot air. Everything stayed perfectly cool with the fans nearly inaudible. So much air is moving up and out the top in this configuration.

Are you only planning on having 3x120's in the top for exhaust and that's it? That's not going to work, pick up a 5 pack of P12 PWM PST's for $30 if you don't plan on any other type of fans to fill out the case.

Its a case designed to be looked into with all that glass, surely you don't want unsightly empty fan locations?

That was my initial plan, yes. Guess I'll have to reconsider in that case...

I found a good deal on the Lian Li Galahad 240mm with the Lian Li Unifans included.

I think I will be a bit stubborn, throw too much money at it, and install 3x unifans bottom and 3x unifans top.

This should cut it incase of airflow, shouldn't it?

I went a little overboard with fans.

Spoiler

Top and bottom sets of 120mms are intake. Gets the GPU and AIO fresh air. Air is forced out through gaps, and the 140mm side fans are exhaust. At the bare minimum, I'd probably use the AIO as intake, and exhaust fans on the side where I have 120s. Lets the GPU kind of pull air in through the bottom and force it out the back side.

On a side note, I did have a slim 120mm on the "back" slot that's open. I kept putting my fingers in it so that got removed.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

My idea was to go with the Galahad 240mm AIO on the side with air intake, have intake on the bottom with 3 fans and exhaust from the top with 3 fans.

It's a pretty standard O11 build if I look at everyone's images, but I love the look of it. Was thinking of an all black build with white accents.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. Fans are easy to flip if you want to play with them once it's all set up to find your best temperatures.

Only so many ways to skin a cat. I strongly dislike RGB even though I really like the case that's meant to show off RGB. The motherboard RGB has since been...dealt with.... When I had my Aero G and white LPX in that case it looked really good with even that as white accents.

Don't try to set it up like that ^. Does absolutely horrible. I had to run it like that for a little while while waiting on offset brackets for the AIO. Thermal throttling even with the side panel off.
