It's a shame Dell has to cut these monitors, as they aren't the cheapest but they are amazing, therefore saving for multiple monitors may take some time.

The Dell P2314H and P2414H replaces the U2312HM (both are 1080p.. I don't know why you have that 1 inch difference) :)

These monitors are the same as the U2312HM in terms of general specification. It drops e-IPS panels from LG which had a lot of quality production issues, and opt for LG's AH-IPS.

It also doesn't use a PWM to control the back light, but rather a real dimming circuit.

Input lag has been improved as well, with and impressive near 0ms.

Response time is about the same.

Non glossy.

The reason why it switch from UltraSharp series to the Professional series, is at the time. IPS panels were viewed as a fancy monitor.

Now, IPS panels, especially the panels used in the U2313H and U2213H, (and U2412HM if it was not 16:10), are "nothing special", in the sense that they are simply entry level IPS panels, and actually doesn't really fit the UltraSharp series name. But, the good news, is that the Professional series of these model continues with the same kick ass warranty of the UltraSharp series. Also, back in 2012?! (actually I don't recall, by anyway, a few years back), Dell has announced that they will phase out TN panels, as they find them unacceptable for even office space, not for the colors, but for the sharpness (remember we are comparing with simialrly price TN panels, not high-end TN panel which cost more) and wide view angle.

The Dell 28inch 4K monitor is clearly the exception, as it's 4K, affordable, but I don't expect a refresh of this monitor. Of course, the budget series monitors from Dell (E series), will remain TN panels, as they have no choice. IPS are too pricey to fit that range as of today.

So excluding the the Dell 28inch 4K monitor, and the U2414HM which has true thin borders.

Dell is keeping with what they started with UltraSharp with true 8-bit panels with color processors, and Look Up Table embed with them, like the U2413, or the U2713HM or U2713H
