Case = CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced

MS = Gigabyte 1600dpi Optical

 Monitor = 24" Asus VG248QE @ 144Hz

2nd Monitor = 27" Asus VS278Q-P @ 60Hz

See below screenshot showing fluctuating GPU usage while playing BF3.  This fluctuation is NOT exclusive to BF3.  Happen on all games, just some worse than others.  The result is choppy gameplay and stutter.

SS1

What do you think is the issue here?  Maybe the Nvidia cards aren't playing nice with the AMD CPU/MOBO?  Or maybe my CPU/MOBO prefer an AMD card?

Do you think a different AMD MOBO would solve this issue?  I've heard there are numerous issues with this version of Gigabytes MOBO.

Please let me know your thoughts on this guys.

I think thhat it is normal, because you have SLI confiquration

As long as it isn't causing you any lag or anything it's fine. I think this happens to pretty much all GPU's.

Sorry about that.  Should be viewable now.

Even when I disable SLI and had just one card in, the GPU usage was still fluctuating.

hey

what your experiencing is a few things (or maybe one of them)

either

1. you have a bottleneck in your system - doubt it be this to be honest

2. badly made game engine - quite possibly its EA after all :D

3. bad or wrong/outdated video drivers - try updating/reinstalling your video drivers

4. gpu overheat

5. bad overclock

also dont forget not all games support sli/crossfire

What FPS are you getting with these usage drops? Is V-sync on? Your overall CPU usage is fine, but what about each core specifically? One core sitting at 100% usage is a bottleneck no matter how idle the other cores are.

None of the cores are bottlenecked.  All of them are maybe just of 50% usage under load.  V-sync is NOT on.  FPS is all over the place, directly related to GPU usage.  Sometimes dips below 50FPS, but I know these cards have the horsepower...
