I can help I would suggest getting a Blue Snowball iCE and a pair of Sony MDR-7506 or MDR-V6, AudioTechnica M50, or Audiotechnica AD700's. I would ask @ShearMe for his help too

Vote for AD700 for gaming and music. It got very very very very wide soundstage. Too bad it's extinct though (discontinued).....

You can get the AD700x which is the new version and it's black.

Some people say, in term of wide soundstage alone (not counting sound quality), the AD700 is the widest among others, making it very good to use in 3D positional audio in gaming. Having tried various headphones, I have yet found another headphone that's as wide or wider than the AD700. Not saying that there are none out there, but just saying I haven't found 1 yet. But my opinion might be biased, though.

Maybe that's why the AD700 (new) is $298 on amazon, while the newer and (supposedly) better AD700x is $140 (also new, on amazon). The used AD700 offers start from $130, meaning add another $10, and you'll get a brand new  AD700x. This, IMO, is downright crazy....

Um... I do not think those are 50 pound.

Although yes the AD-700x is amazing and a modmic/blue snowball are a very good combo (best for the price anyway)

Sennheiser HD 201,HD 219,Monoprice 108323, or Koss Portapro and zalman zm-1 mic then.

At £50 you'll not get much for your money. I'd suggest just looking on Amazon and find something from a company with a name you recognise that meets your price range.

I got an ok pair for about £30, creative fatality something or other. They're exceedingly mediocre and the velour fabric gets very irritating after a little while

You can get Superlux HD-681 Evo or 668b with that budget, and throw in a Zalman clip-on mic.

This ^^ Listen to this guy and you will not regret spending your 50 pounds. Those Superlux headphones are pretty much the best bang for your buck, neither one of them is better from the other because both have different characteristics so it's only a matter of personal preference. The Zalman clip-on mic, I own one, and all I can say is that don't let the look fools you because this handy little thing sounds as good as if not better than the mics on $100++ gaming headsets.
