Having Issues Wiping Hard Drive

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

Go in bios and configure boot order to put the SSD before the mechanical hard drive.

Also, you can probably remove the mechanical drive completely from the boot list.

You also don't need DBAN.... just download WD Dashboard, select your drive and hit ERASE : https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en&p=279

It's made by WD, but it will work with any hard drive.

I recently (yesterday) upgraded the hard drive in my computer to an SSD, and I am trying to wipe the old drive in order to use it for additional storage.

I downloaded and mounted DBAN to a USB flash drive, but whenever I try to boot into it after setting it as the top boot priority in the BIOS of my computer, It just boots into windows instead.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

Computer is an ASUS Tuf Gaming FX504-GD laptop. Intel Core i5 8300H, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050

As well, if there's other good, free software that does the same thing without needing a bootable USB would also be appreciated
