I broke my pin off my Ryzen 3600Xt and i wanna know if itll still work. I tried putting it back in the mobo and booting, no post but I tried it with no cpu cooler because i’m running a hardline setup and i didn’t want to assemble everything and realize i need to fix the cpu. my mobo, asus b450f strix shows a yellow light in the top corner (i think for ram) but there’s definitely no issue with my ram. any help? (broken pin is in the bottom left of image 7th column and 10th row from bottom

Sometimes you can get away with it, sometimes you can't. You got your answer when you tried it. Yes, broken pins can cause memory problems that cause a No-POST.

How'd you break that pin and nothing else?

Referencing the AM4 pinout (assuming you counted correctly, too lazy to double check exact position of the broken pin), that should be a ground pin so in theory it would still work since there's enough redundancy with it. Try reseating the memory to see if that will get it to function (I've got a board that will not POST on a cold boot unless you reseat the memory, it's not super uncommon to see).

Yep,It's a Vss ground pin.

Yikes, yeah looks like a ground pin broke. I believe LTT made a video about fixing CPU Pins so you may want to give that a watch:

Otherwise, it's looking like your only option here would be to maybe try claiming warranty on it (if it's still valid) though there's no guarantee that Customer Support will accept the warranty claim.

Keep in mind that I am sometimes wrong, so please correct me if you believe this is the case!

I’m a little confused, if it’s just a ground pin shouldn’t it still post?

also i did bend other pins but i bent them back just in the process of bending this one snapped off 😞

It should still POST, yes, that's why I said you should try reseating the RAM, also putting some sort of cooler on it (even if it's just the empty water block with no thermal paste, anything is better than nothing) might help as well.

I tried and just reseating didn’t help but i went ahead and tried moving my ram from slots a2&b2 to a1&b1 and it fixed my issue, my system now posts but when i switch it back it still won’t post. is it ok to keep my ram in the 1 slots or will dual channel not work?

That's just odd. Yeah it'll be fine, it should work in dual channel mode, you'll just struggle to hit higher memory frequencies.

That's not an issue caused by the CPU, if it were slots A1 and A2 would be dead or slots B1 and B2 would be dead, not one of each. Maybe do a clear CMOS or something to see if that will fix it?

I tried to clear cmos and it didn’t fix it, i tried swapping the memory back into the 2 slots and it still didn’t work, if it’s fine to run it in 1 slots i guess i’ll keep it like this unless there’s anything else i can do to troubleshoot. by the way thanks so much i was panicking

Only other thing I can think of is maybe try moving them into slots A2 and B2 one at a time, seeing which of the slots won't work in there.

Realistically, if you can enable XMP there's not really a downside to them being in the wrong slot, but it's still just weird.
