r9 280x(s) in crossfire could run 1440p easily on high-medium setting (No AA most likely) but with 1440p you will barely even notice jaggies

Hi I bought a R9 280X at the start of the year, and now I have found a good deal on a 2560 x 1440 monitor, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I can get playable framerates ( 40 - 60fps) if I buy another one and run in crossfire. Or would I need to sell it and get a 780 ti or 290X?

A 280x cf will outperform the 780 Ti/290x.

Jaggies are still very much noticeable at 1440p, but IMO you don't need more than 2x AA. Even at 4K there's jaggies.

I have Tri-7950's and dual 1440p monitors, When playing games I only use two of them. I have yet ran into a game I could not run at max setting's.
