Long story short, I bought the wrong speed ram, to go with my cpu.

Ripjaws- 8gb x2, 3600mhz.

Intel i5 11500.

Asus tuf gaming z590 plus wifi.

When I set the ram speed in the bios, I'm only stable up to 3066. The cpu is rated up to 3200.

Am I missing something in setting the increased ram speed to 3200? Voltages etc?

Are you using the XMP profile or setting it manually?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

When I tryed XMP, it set it up to 3600 along with all the other changes. I assume this is because the ram is in fact 3600.

Did the system boot properly with XMP enabled?

Honestly, I assumed it would not work, as the cpu is rated up to 3200 for the ram... But I can still try... Will update once I have.

Even with a rated speed that low, you will often not struggle with an overclock as mild as that.

Assuming it does not work, enable XMP so that the rated voltage and timings are applied, then manually drop frequency to 3466 or 3333, or even 3200 until it is stable. Tweak timings as desired.

Assuming it does work, you're good to go.

Update.

I tryed the XMP at the default speed (3600) still no dice. Then I tryed it as you suggested, lowering the speed to a stable point. I'm still only getting a stable speed of 2933.

At this point, I'm not willing to experiment any further. Thanks for all the help! I'd rather have it working at the lower speed, than to mess something up and have to by new parts. Thanks again!
