Is it ok to use a Y-splitter with noctua fans?

GerardAlvarado

I have been thinking of upgrading my generic case fan on my HP Compaq 8200 with a Noctua fan, i noticed that i could put some more fans in other places, and my motherboard has one other 4-Pin fan header, since Noctua fans come with y-splitters can i use them to install 4 fans on the 2 fan headers?

I heard it can fry the motherboard but i aint sure

-> Moved to Cooling

Y-splitter just doubles cables, nothing more. Both motherboard header and fans itself have more to do with working or not.

Most fan headers are rated for 1 Amp, as long as your connected fans stay below that then you're golden.
