Should I hold onto my rtx 3060?

MilFiftyFive

So I was originally thinking of building a PC and when prices dropped so much in July I first snagged a 3060 but now that things seem a bit better it doesn't mean it will stay that way. I am conflicted if the new future GPUs will face a similar fate in what happened in '21 and it will be a cycle with longer price spikes. I want to keep it but fear it's use being obsolete when I build a pc, when my current one starts to or dies.

The 3060 won't start to become obsolete until a few more years. It will continue to hold its own even when its inevitably outshined by its 4060 cousin.

I don't really get what you're trying to say.

It's possible new GPUs will also have shortages, however there likely won't be as much demand. So it won't seem as bad.

When are you going to be building a PC? There's no point in having it for the sake of having it if you're not using it in the foreseeable future.

If you're not building soon, I'd sell it or return it if you have the option.

Sorry about the confusion, I want to build ~10 years after but its kinda far kinda foreseeable, idk how long AIOs last but im just afraid that GPUs go crazy high and there isn't any mid teir cards that are an ok price. Also ty tho.

GPU prices will be fine as long as crypto doesn't spike too much again. AIOs wouldn't last 10 years, just get an air cooler.

Wait what? You're holding onto this GPU to build something 10 years from now? Then definitely sell it. That's insane.

This statement confused me even more. You want to hold onto your hardware and build a computer in ten years??

Please clarify what you mean by this statement.

Do you mean:

a) you want to build a computer ten years from now, or;

b) you want to build a computer that will last you ten years?

b) is a somewhat reasonable ask. a) is absolutely not.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.
