why isn't thunderbolt eveyrwhere?

i mean, it's 5GB/s, that's sufficient for EVERYTHING, why? patent fees? why are we still sticking to usb 3?

tell me why! cuz i really want it.... and it's not on most windows

Thunderbolt 1 was 10GB/s

Thunderbolt 2 Is currently 20 GB/s

 

and the supposed Thunderbolt 3 will run at 40GB/s

 

Also I think thunderbolt is awesome

For most people, they don't need it. USB 3 works perfectly fine for them. Also, the price. USB 3 and 2 are everywhere and very cheap while thunderbolt is not cheap and hasn't been adopted everywhere. Thunderbolt may be better for certain things and certain people and those people may have gotten it already. I personally don't need it.
