Budget (including currency): $1200

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video Editing, Photo Editing, Battlefield, COD, Regular Gaming

Other details : I'm an up and coming photographer/videographer, and I'm trying to build a PC that can handle 4k videos smoothly and photo editing in Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. I would like to use it for some gaming (COD, Battlefield, Rocket League, most FPS, etc.) and possibly some gameplay recording in the future.

Parts: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nVGQRv

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($198.88 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler  ($99.95 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($133.50 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  ($75.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Sabrent Rocket 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($69.98 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung 870 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($103.57 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB GAMING X Video Card  ($349.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case  ($109.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair RM (2021) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($94.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $1236.83

I already have the ram kit and Samsung SSD (gift), so that frees up about $181. I already have the peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitors).

I used Linus' Editing PC on a BUDGET video as a reference, but frankly I'm a novice in this subject. Majority of the differences (GPU, CPU, MOTHERBOARD) I picked were based on me trying to find something a bit more powerful or better, but like I said I'm new lol

Any ideas or suggestions would help out tremendously!  Thank you in advance for your help, and sorry for any crazy picks I made.

You should be able to buy a 3060 for that price, would 100% do that over a 1660. If you want you could buy a used 3070 for 450ish. Other then that i dont see any issue besides you know you have to update the bios of that motherboard to even use the CPU.

$70 more, but much faster CPU, GPU, more RAM and storage.

Love the CPU cooler choice, I had no idea it was better both price and performance wise! Quick question, I'm curious about the motherboard choice. They both are the same price and really almost identical, is the B550 better performance wise?

Yes, B550 offers PCIe 4.0 for GPU and CPU NVMe.

The Peerless is not better than the NH-D15. It is less expensive and more than sufficient for a 5600X. The NH-D15 is arguably the best tower type cooler.

Ahh ok got it, & I’ll also have to update the bios with that motherboard too, right? Also I’m curious about the case decision, is there an advantage to the case? & ok got it, thank you for your input! I really appreciate the advice & support!

Unlikely that the BIOS will need updating. Motherboards generally ship with the latest BIOS at time of manufacturing.

The case I suggested has much better airflow. Should result in quieter operation.
