A Good Calendar?

Does anyone know of a good calender program where I can type stuff in on different days, maybe set background, something that is in rain meter maybe? I wanna be able to add in which days what anime I'm watching come on, and things I've got to do like papers or family things, or events. Stuff you write on a calender lol, but I want it on my PC. I'd also prefer it to look good, and maybe be able to put it on the side bar like I think vista had some weird thing like that?

Personally I use google calendar. You can easily set one off events, scheduled events for daily/weekly/monthly/yearly etc.

 

You can change the colour of the event on the Calendar so that, for example, family birthdays can be in blue, friend birthdays in green, parties in red etc.

 

It also syncs with your google account so you can view/add/edit from any of your synced devices.

 

I don't know about changing the background but it certainly ticks all the boxes for me.
