SSD Damaged port

razor_fist

Hi guys

I've broken the little plastic support on the 15 pin my Crucial Mx500 SSD. Image's below

I was able to straighten out the pins and use a USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter to get my Data out of the drive. so Nothing is lost. been thinking about a few ways to fix this and had the below idea's

I've found just the Sata port on Aliexpress(Part G) but delivery is going to take over 2 months.

I did find the below which i should be able to remove and solder to the SSD. Slightly more chance to mess up.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08KFFJP57/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1OGRI65268WXS&psc=1

Another option would be to get the below as it's the exact same connector as the USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter that i used and then regular cables can be used. I would likely have to super glue the stuff so it doesnt move. but there may be reliability issue's here.

I'm going to give this a little thought before i decide on what route i want to go down. Just wanted to get second opinion and new idea's from everyone incase there are better options

Thanks

if your soldering skills are up to the task, replacing the whole port is the way to go imo. you don't have any old drives laying around? i would just go into my old hdd/ssd* pile and de-solder the port from one of them for the ssd. (assuming you can find one that will fit correctly)

Probably just another bad idea but you might just get away with having this permanently attached with help of hot glue:
90 Degree 7+15Pin SATA Male to Female Port Adapter Card for SATA HDD SSD *Z | eBay

At least you don't have to bother with soldering

If you choose to go with the first amazon adapter transplant, you'll have to hot glue it too to ensure it's secured in place and not just attached by the solder.

If you found my answer to your post helpful, be sure to react or mark it as solution 😄
