Hello to the good people of this forum,

I had this problem, My PC is stuck with the "Preparing automatic repair" goes into the black screen with the loading animation. after 8 hours or so, it's still on the loading animation.

so i did these actions:

> Went to bios > boot override using USB (windows install media) > won't boot past Mobo screen

> Removed boot drive > went to bios > boot override using usb (windows install media) > booted to windows installation - (It seems it needs a clean install of windows)

> Got a new SSD and planning to clean install windows on the new drive.

Question is can I still recover my boot drive and turn it into and normal storage drive?

Thanks in advance.

If it’s still good just format/s it.   Might still be good.  A clean install could work on either drive.  Something that might work if you don’t even want to reinstall is boot into safe mode and use the recovery console.  This sounds like a “windows got messed up” problem.  Software not hardware.  Hardware isn’t impossible though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
