Hello guys! I'm new to LTT. Need your inputs for my plan to upgrade my GPU (I'll give my old GPU to my brother).

Budget (including currency): Around 475$ - 500$(GPU only)

Country: Philippines

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Genshin Impact(I go high settings on this one), other triple A games (I usually just go with mid settings for these kind of games) like Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 7 & 8.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

MOBO: Aorus B550M Elite

RAM: Kingston HyperX 8gb 3200Mhz 2x

GPU: MSI GTX 1060 ARMOR 6GD5X OC

PSU: Silverstone Strider 650W ST65F-GS 80+ Gold

Cooling: Coolermaster ML240L V2

All of my components are fairly new (I just bought them last year, around february) with the exception of the GPU which I bought around 2018.

I am mostly playing on 1080p60. I have a 144hz monitor arriving in a week or so, but I don't think I'll go for 120fps (depends on my game, I guess). I am planning to get an RTX 3060 card but I am not sure if my PSU is enough for the upgrade. Though I've seen brands put in their datasheet for recommended PSU as around 500W or 550W, I still want to get a  few more inputs for this one.

Thanks !

I'd recommend a 6700xt or similar instead of a 3060 at your  budget

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RFGbt6/xfx-radeon-rx-6700-xt-12-gb-speedster-swft-309-video-card-rx-67xtyjfdv

Something like this if you have a atx case or this

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7whFf7/msi-radeon-rx-6700-xt-12-gb-mech-2x-video-card-radeon-rx-6700-xt-mech-2x-12g

If you have a matx case

Usually~~ radeon cards will be cheaper and I'm fairly confident when I say a 6700xt is going to be better than something on Nvidias side at the same price point like a 3060

This is at the 500 mark so if it goes over with shipping or whatnot a 6650xt would Also be good but about 100 dollars cheaper.

I'm not sure about your local pricing but the 3060s I've seen on pc part picker are the same price as the 6700xt and certainly more than a 6650xt for worse performance

A 6700xt or a 6650xt should run just fine with that Silverstone psu

I do have an ATX case but I can't go for a GPU with triple fans because my AIO is front mounted. I couldn't mount it on top because it will collide with my RAM. I will need to either buy an air cooler or replace my case if I would go for that.

I just checked the local price of 6700xt in here, and it costs a whooping 760 to 840 usd depending on the brand. I'll pass on that 😅. 6650 xt on the other hand is on the same price range of the 3060. I might consider that.

So my PSU is still fine? How close do you think the total power draw of my components? I used a few power calculator online and they give results around 400-500 (including other parts I didn't put here like SSDs, etc.) but I don't know how accurate are those.

In any case, thanks for the input!
