What monitor model is it?

Unplug/replug your monitor to see if it resets.

What cable are you using? If you can use a different cable/input type, try that. & then switch back to your original cable/input. Does this reset it?

if you’re able to use the monitor with the secondary cable/input, look up how to factory reset the monitor & do it whilst on that input, then switch to your original input/cable.

Try pressing F8 when you start the computer (press it multiple times, with around half a second- 1 second between presses) to get a menu and then select SAFE MODE  (with standard low resolution). On some motherboards, F8 is also a shortcut for "choose from what drive or device to boot" so if that menu shows up, select your regular Windows hard drive and then continue tapping F8 to get Windows' menu.

If that doesn't work, you can still force Windows to offer you the option by turning off your PC three times in a row while windows loads, see https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-enter-safe-mode-in-windows-10/

In safe mode, the video card driver should not load, but you may be able to start the nvidia control center or the AMD control center and configure a hotkey / shortcut

if you can't set that hotkey, try changing the resolution to a safe one in display properties and reboot. If that doesn't work, you can go back in safe mode and you have several options

1. go in device manager, and DELETE the video card entries and reboot. When you go in Windows normally, Windows should start with a safe resolution and search for drivers and find them and install them back, BUT there's a chance it would also apply back that unsafe resolution.

If that happens there's option 2 ..

Download and run DDU from safe mode, which will uninstall completely the drivers, and not leave them for Windows to find them and install them. After normal boot, you'll get a safe resolution and you'd have to manually install the drivers again.

Alternatively, you could try something like this

You could install a tool like HRC - https://funk.eu/hrc/  - (hotkey resolution changer and configure it to launch at startup)  and set a safe resolution in it and assign that a shortcut  (example ctrl + alt+ 1)  - then you restart the pc, log into windows, then press that hotkey combination to reset your resolution.

Alternatively, you can manually launch that tool with a parameter  ex hrc.exe R1  to have HRC start and set the first resolution configured in it.

So without anything on screen, you could press windows key + R to open the RUN prompt, and there type c:\temp\hrc.exe R1   to launch hrc.exe you previously unpacked in the C:\temp folder and configured the first resolution in it to something safe for your monitor.

Instead of windows key + R , you can also use windows key + X to have a menu pop up, and press R or  tap UP key three times to position on the run option and hit enter.
