Do Z390 and Z490 mobos have the same cooler mounting?

Go to solution Solved by Skiiwee29,

Yes. Same mounting system. Its been the same mounting system for the past 10 years until Z690. Z690 is when a new socket size was introduce for main stream.

I currentlly have the i5-8600k (LGA1151) and want to upgrade to the i5-10600k or i9-10850k along with a z490 mobo but I'm not sure if my NZXT Kraken X62 will mount onto it

Be sure to consider if it's worth it compared to getting new parts, old/used CPUs and MBs are really overpriced lately, and haven't been following the price changes caused by Zen 3 and Alder Lake, for example you might be able to get a 12600K or 12700F + B660 for about the same or only slightly more than a 10850K + Z490, but both will perform better than the 10850K.

I got the 11600k and an asus prime z590A. 450 euro for both (used parts from Amazon). It doesn't break the bank and should fix the cpu bottleneck that I get in some games. And my brother can have a decent cpu and mobo for his first PC 🙂

450 Euros for a 11600K + MB is not a great deal, a 12600KF+B660 is way faster for 20 Euros more, even if you would be sacrificing the iGPU and OC, you can also go with the 12400F, which would be between similar and slightly faster compared to the 11600K for 25 Euros less, prices from Pcpartpicker Ireland based on your profile, you can probably find better prices in shops that aren't listed there. NZXT apparently will just ship the LGA 1700 bracket if you request it and send them proof that you bought it.

80 euros of that price is import taxes from UK. I looked at the 12600k and the cheapest options I found were around 150 euro more expensive overall. the 12400F would be around the same price as I paid. Both of these would come wit a significant motherboard downgrade though

Pcpartpicker shows this site as the cheapest option:

https://www.paradigit.ie/Intel-Core-i5-12600KF/21155147/product?

The site seems to be Irish even though the company is from Netherlands, so I think there would be no taxes, only the included VAT. Not sure on how good the shop is though.

Ok, you won. I cancelled the order and got the 12600KF for 80 euro extra
