Hey, so i've spent the last 6 months finding parts either on sale or on the second hand market, and need a mother board to finish it all off.

Acquired parts so far: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6FLkJM

Usage will be gaming, CADing, 3d modeling, drawing, and very minimal streaming.

Minimum requirements would be at least 2 extra available 16x slots, 2 m.2 slots, both a 3.2 gen 1 connector AND a 3.2 type c port (LTT project zero cables giving me ideas) and enough power delivery for the ryzen

Budget around 300 CAD (with wiggle room)

While we are at it convince me to get an air cooler rather than an AIO 😛

Basically every B550 motherboard can do this, the max a 5900X will pull is ~150W, which at ~1.2V (what the 5900X will run at with just PBO when under max load) is 125A. As long as the board isn't basically worthless, it can handle ~125A without overheating.

By this do you mean x8/x8 support, or just a 2nd x16 slot run off the chipset? There is a difference between the two.

If by 2 x16 slots you meant one off the CPU, one off the chipset, B550 Tomahawk is probably your best bet, it has all the features you want for pretty cheap, though the M.2 slot and the 2nd PCIe slot share bandwidth. The cheapest board that doesn't is the B550 Steel Legend, another very solid board for the money.

If by 2 x16 you meant x8/x8 support, the cheapest board that does is the ASUS Prime X570-Pro, though the B550 Steel Legend might still be the better option since it does have a POST code (IMO a very import feature for troubleshooting a system).

An air cooler will perform just as well, be quite a bit cheaper, and the pump won't die in 3-5 years.

I was going off advice that a x16 for a capture card is a good idea, but now i am skeptical. as long as its got adequate expansion slots im good.

I was pondering b550 vs x570, with the only thing being the 4.0 pcie.

Also the gen2 3.2 type c port

IIRC a lot of capture cards throw a fit when they're being run off the chipset, so I would try to get an x8/x8 board instead.
