Bottlenecks

So I was wondering if there are any particular bottlenecks my computer might have. I used to play GTA IV, but I've had to play GTA IV at 720p and most of the other games.

 

 

Here's my PC specs...

 

  • MSI A75MA-E35
  • AMD Trinity A8-5600K
  • Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 (2 X 8 GB)
  • WD Green 1 TB HDD

 

Here's my games list...

 

  • GTA IV
  • Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
  • Halo 2
  • Some COD games

 

(Note: I'm using the stock heatsink fan that came with the CPU. I used to have a closed-loop liquid cooling system from Corsair. I plan on upgrading my system later on in the months to come.)

I doubt you're being bottlenecked.

 

You probably have to play at 720P because those games are poorly optimized.  (specifically GTA IV)

with faster ram you could speed up gaming performance.

For the parts you mentioned everything is balanced.

If you want to upgrade, here are a few suggestions:

- Game performance: add a graphics card in the range from AMD Radeon HD 7750 gddr5 or R7 250 gddr5 to HD 7770 or R7 250X, maybe R7 260X (but in some games that 260X card would be bottlenecked a lot). A stronger gpu is not recommended with that weak CPU, there would be a huge bottleneck.

- System stability: change your power supply to a better one if you have a bad/cheap or really old psu.

- System speed: Add an 120/128/160/180/240/256 GB SSD drive and put your OS and aplications on it.

- Quiet pc and better cooling: change your cpu cooler for an aftermarket cooler.

I'd say that's fine for an APU! Getting faster MHz RAM and possibly adding a GPU will boost your graphical horsepower. But getting a high end one would then result in a CPU bottleneck.

For overall system snapiness, add a SSD.

Just get a GPU, APU's are not meant for performance when it comes to gaming.
