@bmx6454I just want to get better frame rates and games to run smoother.

yes, but in game, what are your cpu and gpu usages? if you are maxing cpu, then cpu makes more sense to upgrade first, same thing for if gpu is maxing instead.

is there a program that mesaures this stuff?

Since you have an AMD GPU you could just press Ctrl + Shift + O and it will show an overlay in the top right. But you can also download Afterburner and Rivatuner, if you prefer that.

You should run whatever you want more performance in when doing this

If that's what you normally play at you should upgrade the GPU, since that's running 100%. But don't expect big improvements as the CPU is also close to a bottleneck here.

What is your budget? Can't say much without knowing it, but right now I'm thinking about a used 8th or 9th gen i5 and a 6600 XT or 3060.

So i can use 8th 9th gen i5 with my board?

That's one of the options, but you should not pay that much. That's more than a brand new 10400F. I would get this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384851830669?epid=7029961457&hash=item599af4e78d%3Ag%3AfeMAAOSwIHViZJnq&LH_BIN=1

I also have another board sitting here that has an amd dual core in it...I saw a Ryzen 5 and mobo combo on amazon for like 250 yesterday or something.

Do you know what specific Ryzen it is? If it's 1st or 2nd gen I wouldn't get it, 3rd gen depends and 5th gen should be fine.

Is that what you normally run things at? You should run everything exactly like you normally would.

Yes. You may have to update the BIOS for 9th gen.

I don't recommend the 6500 XT you PM'd me. It's not much better than the 570, and since you run a PCIe 3 CPU and GPU it might even be slower sometimes. Maybe you can sell your current GPU and get a 6600 / 6600 XT / 3060

thank you for your input. so you think the i5 would be some improvments for now? and i can just upgrade my gpu in a month or so...ill loook at the 6600 u got amazon link?

The one from the ebay link I sent should be a good without costing to much, so yes I recommend that for now until you upgrade the GPU. It's better to have a GPU bottleneck than a CPU bottleneck.
